Helping Children Become Their Best

ABOUT

Brenda Weiland

Brenda Weiland graduated from Taylor University with a B.A. and a desire to help struggling adolescents. When she discovered that many problems in the teen years were the results of difficulties in the preschool years, she became a Montessori Preprimary (preschool and kindergarten) teacher. She enjoyed working in that environment for several years and loved the multisensory method. Her special joy was teaching young children to read.

When her own children had special needs and learning challenges that emerged in elementary school, Brenda attended graduate school to discover the answers that would unlock learning for them. She earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, Ann Arbor. She discovered the National Institute of Learning Development (NILD) and found the underlying issues that impeded learning for her children. Through NILD Educational Therapy, causal issues are remediated and learning becomes effective for students with challenges.

Brenda is completing a Master of Education in Exceptional Student Education with NILD Therapy at Southeastern University. She has practiced NILD Therapy for several years in private practice and continues to enjoy helping students learn to read and learn. She is grateful that she discovered NILD Educational Therapy and its proven track record of success for students that struggle to learn.

Our Method

The NILD (National Institute for Learning Development) method is an educational therapy approach that is aimed at addressing the underlying causes of learning difficulties in children with learning disabilities. Unlike traditional tutoring that focuses on treating the symptoms of learning difficulties, NILD educational therapy targets the root causes of these challenges.

NILD is one of only two programs that is approved by the International Dyslexia Association.

How It Works

This therapy model takes a direct, language-based approach and aims to strengthen the foundational cognitive processes that contribute to learning difficulties. The therapy sessions are designed to develop cognitive processes, including perception, memory, attention, and reasoning, which are essential for effective learning. By strengthening these foundational cognitive skills, NILD aims to enhance the overall learning potential of children with learning disabilities.
